I have very fond memories of my time at The High. I left in 1953, to go to Ayr Academy, and then on to JordanhillCollege in Glasgow.I taught in Kilmarnock for two years and then went to South Africa for a year. Finally ended up in Yorkshire, where I spent 25 years in the same school. I have been retired nearly ten years, enjoying my free time with my 2 granddaughters. I have been in touch with Elizabeth Logan Armour for a long time, she is in East London, South Africa, and have recently caught up with Sandra Shaw (Hardy)who has put me in touch with some others. It is great to hear from class mates. I wont call them 'old' as we are all getting on a bit!! | |
| Hynter MacDonald | Lived at 3 Midton Road 1935-39 and 70a Ayr Road 1938-1944. First two teachers at Prestwick High were Miss/Mrs Wallace and Greenshields. May have started school September 1939. Anyone out there? | |
| Wallace Thornton | Now live in Chiswick, West London, retired 20 years ago after selling my sports business in Ayr. | |
| Lewis Grant | I was in the class of 1945, along with Jack Drinnan, Jim(Jaber) Anderson, Sandy Crawford, Jim Manson, Margaret Smith,Rosemary Reston,Ailsa McGarva Tommy Stevenson, Molly Cuthbertson, etc. Is there anyone out there of our era--please get in touch | |
| Norman Henry | I left the High in 1954 but remember all the teachers named, and Miss Knox as being a pain in the butt. The art teacher was a sensitive/nervous canadian??? or had lived abroad I believe. Anyway I left Scotland in 1963 and returned to live in England in 1982 so I lost all my old acquaintances. Now near Stafford. | |

| Wendy Woulfe | My first year at school was at Prestwick High. I don't remember names from so long ago but have a feeling that Miss Wallace was my teacher. There was an incident I will never ever forget. It was the day we were to receive a 'jab'. I still to this day hate injections. I was so nervous about this, when it was my turn I fainted in front of the whole class. I came to with my skirt over my eyes being held upside- down by the teacher. All I could see was the skirt but the whole class got a good view of my knickers. The embarassement I felt was horrific and to this day unforgetable (I was a very shy child). |

| Alexander johnstone | I was at the School from 1943 to 1952. I played soccer for Prestwick High School and was Captain of St. Cuthbert's in the days of the four houses. I threw a ball through the big front window at the left hand side of the school. My family emigrated to Australia in 1954. I was an apprentice painter at Angus McGugans. I lived in Boydfield Avenue and one of friends in my class at school had emigrated in 1949. I met him at a dance in Melbourne and he subsequently married my sister. So its a small world! Thank you for letting me catch up on the progress of my old school. |
