A small country village with strong connections with Robert Burns, it lies in a farming community.
Burn's famous Bachelors Club is located here.

Troon is located a few miles north of Ayr and Prestwick, and is a popular holiday resort. It has a harbour which has been home of a few fishing boats and other vessels but is also a popular leisure cruising centre with it's own marina. The Ayrshire Fish Market moved from Ayr to Troon on 15th July 1996.
On 29th April 1999, Seacat are starting a service between Troon Harbour and Belfasr.
The vessel visit Troon on the 27th to do some docking training on the new docking ramp.

Troon is also a great golfing centre, and the town hosted the British Open Tournament in 1997.
