Ayrshire Scouting

The Ayrshire Area Badge depicts Rowallan Castle, home of the Late Lord Rowallan who was the 3rd Chief Scout.

The Area is greatly a farming community but there are numerous large engineering companies as well as a fishing industry on the coast. Industries include chemicals, aircraft manufacture, computer technology, heavy engineering, and ship building. The Area also has an International Airport at Prestwick which specializes in freight handling as well as commercial air traffic. Sea Ports are located at Ayr, Troon and Ardrossan. Tourism also plays a big part in the Area, Robert Burns hailing from Alloway near Ayr, Culzean Castle South of Ayr, and a Viking battle site in the north at Largs, to mention but a few.
