Explorer Scouts and Scout Network at Cumbria Area Dragnet 2003

   

2 Members of the Kilmarnock and Loudoun Explorer Scout Unit and 4 members of the Area Network from Kilwinning took part in the Cumbria Area Dragnet Challenge over the week-end 4/6 July. Unfortunately the Stewarton lads did not constitute a team (Minimum of 4 and Max of 6) but the organisers paired them off with a Unit from Barrow on Furness to enable them to complete the walk.
The Kilwinning lads did make the complete distance over the 36 hours, tired but satisfied at their first attempt they came 7th of Network teams that completed the course.
A Comment from one of the Kilwinning team - "Dragnet was definitely a challenge to remember!!!! It was much harder than we first thought but to be able to complete it is some achievement! We are going to be putting in the same team again next year so maybe we will do better!"
8 very tired members of Ayrshire Scouting (Cameron Bell, who took the Kilmarnock Lads down and Bob McIntyre who was assisting at Dragnet HQ made their way back home on Sunday afternoon - Dragnet hopes they will see the lads back next year. Return to top of page
